I have a few questions about tagging a deer in Ohio.

I purchased and printed my out-of-state license online and printed it out. So if I kill a buck I...
1. write the date, time, county of kill on my Special Deer Permit.

2. Make a temorary tag(index card)? including:name,address,date,time,county of kill.

3. Take deer to a check station.

Also, from what I understand no anterless deer permits can be used or purchased this weekend or the rest of the year, except for some special areas?

thanks for the help. Good luck this weekend!!

Good luck with this one. I buy all my tags over the internet. I usually make out my own tags and keep the other for pushing purposes. I asked a GW last year when he was at the tagging station what the proper procedure was, and he didn't really know, but said he's seen it both ways. Although this year I did buy a tag at WalMart so I had the top half of my store bhought tag to keep for pushing and I just filled out my whole permit. Yes, after filling out your own or the printed one, you then take it to a check station, then post a picture on this website for all of us to see.:) Can't help you on the 3rd question.

I buy my tags over the Internet also. I carry each one in its own Ziploc baggie with a twist tie or rubber band. After I kill a deer, I take the tag out, fill in the county, date and time, put it back in the bag, poke a hole in the bag, and use the rubber band or twist tie to fasten it to the antler or ear. I don't fill in an index card, and if you have the tag, you shouldn't need to either.

You have to check your deer either in the county you killed it in, or in a county bordering that one. For instance, if I shoot a deer in Summit County, I could go to a check station in Summit, Portage, Stark, Wayne, Medina, or Cuyahoga counties, but not any of the other 82 counties in the state.

Whether any antlerless tags remain for sale or not I'm not sure, but any that were not used before the gun season during the first few months of bow can only be used in Urban Zones or during Controlled Hunts.
