Hey guys!! I scouted some game land today bout 30 mins from where i live in Toledo called Van Tassel and i couldnt find the other one which was Missonary Island. Can anyone shed some light good or bad info on this area. I havent been out yet this year and i think i want to try this place out this weekend. Any information on the two would be extremely helpful like do alot of hunters use this place is there deer in this area etc. Thanks for the input and good luck to all!!!

van tassel/missionary

I have hunted Van Tassel a few times for rabbits and fish out of there often. I have never seen a deer there. I am sure they are around, but its a small area to hunt and pretty sapling dense. As for Missionary Island, the only way to get there is by boat, as the water around it is deeper. There is a public launch out of Farnsworth Park in Waterville. There are deer out there, but it is VERY thick. Its an adventure, but not completely worthless! We suffer from an extreme lack of quality public land around Toledo/NW Ohio.

Thank you very much for your post. That reallys helps because i wasnt to sure of van tassel when i scouted the area no sign of tracks droppings nothing. As far as missonary i am glad let me know about the depth because i had a co worker tell me oh you can wade over lol. I can just see my big tail trying to get across the river with all my gear and get swept away. I take it your around the toledo area any where you recommend. I have only lived here for about 5 months just got out of the Marines and i am itching to get out and put my bow to use! Thanks again for the info!
