I have an old cap and ball muzzleloader. I was cleaning it today and the brush snapped off inside of the barrel. Does anyone know a way to get this out. Keep in mind the breech is on the side of the barrel and that hole is about a quarter inch. Thx.

Did it snap off inside the barrel? If it did I had this happen to me. The brush came off the end of my ramrod at the bottom of the barrel. I had given up trying to get it out. So I put gorilla glue on the end of my ram rod and pushed it back onto the brush. I let it dry for days. I went back and pulled it right out.

If there is a patch on the brush, you could pour about 10 or 15 grains of powder through the hole on the side of the barrel and literally shoot it out. Point it at the ground so you'll know it came out. Helped a friend get a patch and roundball out when he forgot to put his powder in first. I don't think it will work if it's just a brush with no patch behind it.

It won't hurt anything.

Read where a guy got a 3 foot section of 3/8 copper tubing at the autoparts store - flaired the end and pushed it down the bore over the brush - the brush went inside the tubing and he said he pulled it out real easy - dang :mischeif:
