Just outa couriosity, what all do you carry into the woods?

My pack is at least 30lbs, maybe more.

I carry:

Turkey vest with:

Box

Flat slate

Slate Pot

Acrylic pot

Glass and wood strikers

Scouring pad to retexture friction calls

5 Diaphragms with different cuts

Brush clippers

Bug Spray

Hunter orange vest, in case I get lucky
5 extra shells
2 Granola bars
Bottle of water
Camo poncho
Two rubber hen dekes and one jake
Rubber bands and twist ties (for tagging)
Head net and 2 sets gloves (cause you always leave one somewhere&#8230
Add to this my two man pop up blind and Mossberg.
Makes me tired just thinking about it… but also rather happy!

one or two slates have a great glass slate
2 or 3 strikers
sandpaper and scouring pads
3 decoys
simple ground blind
extra gloves
extra face mask
2 bottles of water

usually wear a camo that if rain resistant.

always try to remember tick spray but forget it every year.
may need to carry oxygen this year im getting old
Thank God turkeys can't smell the icy hot after the first day of running and gunning or I would never see a bird.

Bought the turkey barrel for my Encore. Best thing I did to reduce strain/weight. Pro's: Very, very light. It's short/maneuverable. Great range (last bird taken at 55 yards, open/flat field). Con's: It's kick will make a grown man cry. But, worth every bruise if you run and gun!

I'm with ya' on the 'less is more'. All my birds have come via 1 box call, and/or 1 slate, and 1 cartridge. Yet, I own an extra special turkey vest, with lots of specialized pockets (and a compass in the stock) and LOAD IT UP just in case I encounter a dozen of the toughest beard dragging toms ever encountered by mankind. (Truth is, I just want to look cool.) Love my vest with the butt-saving pad, but might go your route and 'lighten-up' by emptying the pockets this year.

I doubt you really need "one" in Ohio but in more southern states, snake bite kit. in Florida, some extra for anacondas and pythons.

Every time I go out: headnet, gloves (quite often mittens that hold hand warmers), 3 calls (slate, push and one other) plus sand paper, license/tag/pen, orange carry bag, brush trimmers, seat cushion, 3 shells for in the gun + 3-5 extra shells, gun, cell phone.

Add to above - Most every time I go out: camo crazy creek chair (ahhhhh, zzzzzzzz? LOL), water bottle, packs of hand warmers.

Only on special occasions: porta-roof umbrella, 1-3 decoys, red light source, compass, snacks, waterproof calls, crow call, gobble call, bug spray

And since they changed the start date of turkey season and made it earlier several years back, I've only needed my Thermacell once or twice in all those years. Maybe this year with the later start and warm spring (so far), I'll actually get to use it again.

I'm sure there is something more. Seems like when I first started I carried everything but the kitchen sink. Now lately I try to carry less and less.
