I was down in the Wellston area for work last week and was wondering if anyone has any experience deer hunting around Lake Alma. I was also curious if the hunting is any good around Lake Rupert which I believe is called Wellston Wildlife Area. Thinking about maybe makeing a trip down this fall to give it a try. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated.

Deerhunter,

My uncle has a cabin near Wellston and we travel quite frequently by Lake Rupert. Its seems to be about like most public hunting areas seems to be hunted pretty good. I havent hunted that area imparticular so really no help there. We do see quite a few deer along and crossing the roads on our way to and from some of the private ground we hunt near Allensville. I do hear that they take a few bruisers out of there during gun season. Good luck if you try it out.

I live about 8 minutes from Rupert and it does have some pretty good deer hunting. I have hunted in gun season there and I didn't think it was over hunted.
