Me and a friend hit the Va woods yesterday morn. Had one on the roost and only called once real lite. Two hens came across the road up to our left. Not long after, I hear the long beard running down the opposite ridge and up he came. Picture perfect. Kaboom. 2 year old down.
We then went after other birds we herd way off. Was my friends turn.
Long story short. We herd a group of maybe 5 gobblers hammering off then another to our left. Ended up calling the one to the left up to us with 3 Jakes. Kaboom. Another 2 year old down. All by 8:30. That area is always loaded with birds but to produce that quickly on the first day. Was awesome.
