Caught a snapper while catfishing a min ago, just wondering if I'm allowed to keep it or not since it's out of a private pond? any info is appreciated, thanks.

They're in right now so you can, but it looks under the 13 in limit.

Thanks man, I've never messed with turtles before, could you give me the details on season, limit, size.... Or give a link so I can learn a little more for future reference.

But it's supposed to be straight line carapace length.
I wouldn't say anything, but it is on the net and you never know who's lookin.

It's ok, I ended up releasing it. I didn't feel like hassling with it. I'll catch it another day, it's not a big pond lol

Maybe it was a female and she'll breed and lay in the coming months and at least replace herself. I've never harvested any (I'm a reptile/amphibian nut), but they sure are good eats. I leave the dirty work to friends.
Everythings been out early this year.
