Hey Tf, I wanted to join the marines but my asvab was to high....jk. Don't want to get anything going about which service is better. I spent 6 years in the navy and was glad when I got out so I could start earning some real money. I can't see how I lived on what they were paying me then, something definetly needs to be done about the pay for our military.
What's the old saying about the Navy? OH YEA, They send 50 sailors out to sea and come back with 25 couples. Just kidding guys. Thanks to all you servicemen and women.

So if we ever all get together TF has no reason not to buy us all a couple rounds of brew ha right?
It's funny to hear my GF's dad who was an Army Ranger go back and forth with one of the families friend's who is/was a Marine. This year for his birthday the Marine got my GF's dad a remote control tank for his birthday which was right before Christmas. Well that tank ended up mixed in with the families nativity scene in the living room. It was the funniest damn things. My GF's dad put all the desciples or whatever all up around the tank. Mom just rolled her eyes!! LOL
He told me there was alotta deer down there. He said he doesn't think civilians can hunt down there. The funny thing is the only gun he ever handled was in Iraq.(He's Not much of an outdoorsman)LOL
TF,
I think you need to get in the Army Guard, heck our E-7's are pulling in over 60,000 a year I am told.
After being out 18 years I came back as a CPL and got my Sgt back in Sep. from the start of the year to the next pay day (15th) I have made over $10,000 this year and I will have my SSG on the 6th of May.
One other thing, we just got a $75 rase on our Special Duty Assignment Pay for being in a Special Forces slot, so that is up to $375 and Jump pay is $150 a month.
Yep, the WV Guard is the best job I have had in years. And all the time that I am doing now is Fed time, so it counts as active not Guard time. I stay ware I am and will have 20 years active in 13 or guard in 9.

Hey Turkeyfoot, remember the time well. Not to start a Ollie North War Stories segment, but may give u a little comfort. When Ripcord was overrun, They extracted my battalion(Oh-Deuce) to rear for stand down. Little did we know (did we ever know anything ), what was coming up. They inserted us a week or so later right on top of the NVA that put the hurts to you just to the North around Firebase Barnett and OReilly. It was kill or be killed as all of our companys made contact instantly. My company B, was on a napalmed and shelled to h__l hogback we later named Comeback Ridge. They planted us for bait, and we sure sucked them in. All companys took casualties and one of our guys was awarded the MOH for his sacrifice. We killed boo koo dinks then was extracted after about a week or so. Then the bad boys took over(B-52's) Put a damn damn back on em. Too all who served with this GREAT unit the 101st, a big salute! One ass kicking division.
