What did the rest of the pattern look like? Even a cylinder bore should do better than that at 20 yards.
I have the same one for my stepson...haven't patterned it yet but we plan on shooting Winchester Supreme High Velocity Turkey Loads in 3in., 1 5/16"oz & #4shot...I'm thinking I should prbly just get him the 2 3/4in. loads because I heard that the gun kicks a lot with the 20ga barrel on.I need some information from anyone that has had the new Rossi 20 guage 3 inch modified one.
My son got this gun for christmas and we was shooting it today. We was 20 yards away and shooting at little orange stickey note on card board box. He could only manage to get 6-10 to the stickey note. So I tried it and I was about the same maybe 8-12. We shot a winchester super mag 3 inch 5 shot and some federal 9 shot and got the same responce with both. Any help or ideas would be great. May just go borrow pump action 20 guage.
Yeah I didnt buy it his grandpa did. I would never use a 9 shot but we had some laying around so we just shot them so he could get use to the gun. I like to use a 4 or 5 shot for turks.Leave the 9 shot at home, a turkey hit with 9 shot is going to run a long ways. Switching to a pump 20 ga shotgun is no guarantee of success either unless you can get screw in chokes.
When it comes to buying a rossi or new england or H&R single for a youth, your far better off buying a Remington Youth 870 20 gauge with choke tubes. Yes it costs twice as much but will hold its value, if not increase in value and its far more adaptable for all sorts of hunting.
