You are more likely to find retired racers from a local pigeon racer or club. This is the time of year when they are raising their young bird teams. They will soon (early summer) be discarding old birds or young brids that are not going to make the cut. These birds will be "shooters" or "prinsoners". If you let them out they would fly back to the breeders loft so they must be shot. Get online and try to find some local pigeon racer clubs. A source for me is the Fairfield County Pigeon Racers club.
