Well well well, that turned into a fun morning. The rain and snow held off and all I had to deal with was wind. First time I have ever shot a gobbler on opening day. In fact I know I shot a jake or two in the early part of the season back when I first started turkey hunting, but I cannot remember shooting a mature bird in the first two weeks of the season ever. Might have to think about that some more.
The stats:
2 year old gobbler, 20 pounds, 8 1/2 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs.
Remington 870 20 gauge, Hevishot #6 shot
25 yard shot at 11:41am
