MUST READ-ALL 2012 Deer Contest Participants!

    Just A few thoughts on this year’s Deer Hunting contest I want to share with all participants. Based on the number of entrants so far we are going to have a large amount of “players” to participate this year. It looks like at this point teams will have 6 participants per team.

    We have some concerns that I want to make everyone aware of (based on past experiences)-

    1. Make sure everyone reads and follows the Rules- http://www.ohiosportsman.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=53978 that are posted and any new rules and postings that occur moving forward. Your effort in this regard will keep errors at a minimum and the contest running smoothly this fall. With quite a few new members entering this year, knowing the rules will keep the contest positive and fun.

    2. To all the NEW Members signing up- and this applies to all members with less than 50 posts and all members as well that have entered the contest. We are planning on posting the teams on September 10, 2012(Later in the day). YOU WILL NEED to report to your team by Midnight September 18, 2012! YOU MUST SIGN IN on your team thread by Midnight September 18, 2012 so your team knows you are not missing and you are actively participating. YOU signed up to be an active participant in the contest, and the expectation is that you will be participating with your team. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOUR INTENTION IS NOT TO STAY IN TOUCH AND PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST- That would not be fair to the other participants on your team. It also wastes the spot someone else would have had who would have participated.(Yes this has happened in the past and that is why we are covering now).

    3. REMEMBER- We are doing this for YOU and want you all to have a good time with it. It’s imperative that if you enter the contest- you are signing up to join a team and participate in it throughout the contest, and to follow the rules. We- the moderators- will do everything we can to keep it enjoyable as long as you do your part. This contest was put together many years ago by many requests of the members and our expectation is that those that sign up will actively participate. It’s about having some fun-make new friends and talking about and showing others your harvest success as well as sharing your ideas and experiences and of course- bragging rights to the winners.

    4. NEW RULE ADDED- IF an entrant does not show up for their assigned team once the team is determined, and sign into his/her team thread by Midnight September 18, 2012, then that entrant will be banned from any OS contest for 1 year and his spot will be given to an alternate(if available). If the entrant does not periodically keep in touch with their team members and actively participates throughout the contest (unless they are tagged out), then that entrant will be banned for 1 year from any future OS Contest. ( These new rules are to ensure there is a team effort and to help minimize potential issues with other team members when someone signed up and then disappeared and didn't contribute.) No alternates will be assigned after the season starts on September 29, 2012.

    5. Read the rules thoroughly for the reporting of your harvest on the harvest thread when posted. This is one area where many mistakes have happened in the past, and where many moderators spent a lot of time trying to have the entrant correct. YOUR ability to follow the rules and reporting process in this part of the contest (along with everywhere else) is critical in minimizing the amount of work we have to do to correct AND eliminate confusion!!!!

    6. These revisions ensure the participants that do enter will have the best opportunity to enjoy the contest at its fullest. It helps all of the members that do sign up, have the confidence that the members that signed up and are assigned to their team understand the rules of the “game”. If someone ignores the rules as noted, then the participants left will have the ability to regroup and enjoy the contest as it was intended.

    7. If after reading this information above, and if you want to give your spot up to someone who will use it properly-PM me and I’ll remove your name, so others have time to sign up and enjoy it. So-have fun and enjoy and if you have any questions feel free To PM a mod that is involved in the deer contest below! Remember- This Contest is strictly for fun and bragging rights, enjoy and have a good time!
