Thats NOWAY to run any kind of Network... setting bandwidth limits gezzzzz

Um, we chewed through 100Gb of bandwidth this month quite unexpectedly. A managed dedicated server would cost us upwards of $350 per month. Where do you think all that money will come from?

The problem is right there in my eyes... No reason for a dedicated server for only 100Gb of bandwidth.... whew and at $350 per month!! WOW
My Network used just last month:
134.03 MB of disc space
2621.34 MB of bandwidth
I also have:
Subdomains: 15
FTP Accounts: 10
SQL Databases: 12
Email Accounts: 5
All this at a cost of less then $20.00 a month

A managed dedicated server may have been needed a few years ago but with todays advances they are way over-rated

Try transferring 103528 megabytes in a month and see how long your host lets you keep that account. To date, we've received one donation through our link on the left hand side of the page here.

ad dollars just don't stretch like they use too.... GOOD LUCK !!!

My only worry would be if bandwidth is on a budget then it can't be looking too good for the whole operation

Bandwidth is ALWAYS the primary issue when you start running websites of this size. Disk space is minimal in price compared to bandwidth.

You sure seem to be spending a lot of time on this site for someone so critical. We keep looking for ways to make the site better and faster. I have no interest in the site other than a member. I have seen the Michigan Sportsman site grow into one of the few respectible sites around.

We had many guest and visitors from Ohio so Steve decided to duplicate the Michigan site and create a sister site in Ohio for Ohio sportsmen and women. We feel welcome on the Ohio site, just like we welcome Ohio members on the Michigan site.

All I am saying is that one of the problems we are facing to continue to improve both sites, is revenue. Since you are a guide and some of your clients will undoubtably come from your affiliation with this site, what do you think about providing your service to them for free.

I went over and looked at your site, and I wonder how you would feel, if I said the way you are running your guide service is not the right way to do it?

I frequent this site simply because it fills a needed void with which we all can THANK Steve for...
I also find the need to be one of the boys and not some admin type like at my own Network... I use to go to the Michigan site but just don't have the time to frequent all the boards anymore... I'm glad it does very well and wish only the best!!!

As stated earlier I was ready to make a donation to help, in a small way... I read where Steve was thinking of a contest and I was hopeful to donate a 3 day spring turkey hunt with all the trimmings... I would have known my vacation schedule Monday thus my reason for holding back till I knew my days off were etched in stone... I would have been the guide thus saving me money by not having one of the six guides I hire take the loss... THANKS again for making my decision easy... I'll go another route (hello Women in the Outdoors) and maybe next year I can work something out with Steve if I'm still around on this site...
I also would never knowingly accept any bookings from this site as I am not a paying advertiser.... I play by the rules and expect nothing less of those who are affiliated with me... My guide service books very well without the added cost of paying for ads which of course would be passed on to my clients thus making my affordable hunts less so

I do of course wish this site all the best along with the one for our friends up north....
( I am buckeye fan just can't say that "M" word )

So Splitshot what I would recommend you do in the future is make your comments like the above in PM's or emails which would not alienate possible future friends

I guess I'll just keep this short. Sometimes anything you say will alienate people. That’s a good one though. I was going to make this big donation but someone said something I didn’t like and you hurt my feelings, so now I’m not going to do it. Please!!!!

By the way your statement; “I also would never knowingly accept any bookings from this site as I am not a paying advertiser” would be a lot more convincing if you didn’t list a link to your web-site.

As far as the friendship comment, one nice thing about that is it is something two people have to agree on and the future doesn’t look too good.

So now that you make two posts and I made two and I accept your offer to make future comments in private too.
