Will the Crappies be ready before the Morels this year?

Roon reports are coming in here in Clarke and Greene counties.

I'm ready to start finding some mushrooms!! I've never found any morels on my farm but I have occasionally found Dryad's saddle in the spring. And usually by later in turkey season, I'm also finding some oysters. 😊

Central to not much, I always heard the crappie bite to be on in earnest when the dogwood leaves are the size of squirrel ears.

I have always found the crappies when the redbuds are blooming here.

They sprouted in the Greene County area around 4 April. Here is a find from yesterday in Xenia township.

We went to Nelsonville area. Only found 8. Lot of footprints everywhere we went. Looks like it’s time to find some new areas. I’d say we are about eight to ten days out and then it’s going to take off.

That looks great! I hunted for a a half hour yesterday and got skunked. Did not cover much ground. Just checked a honey hole.
