I will be there but I have one problem. I need to figure out where to buy my next load of tree stands. We got slammed, and the stands I had were a one time opportunity. I don't think you coulda gotten more guys around our gooseneck while we were backing in if you had a peep show going on on top of it! I pre-registered for next year. I will do what I can to come up with something. Thanks for the business for all who stopped in. It is much appreciated. I dealt with a bunch of good people. I hope they all kick butt this season in their stands.

I too thought it was alot better than Kenton. I only went on Sunday. There were some great deals to be had. I picked up a 5' day-glo lead, a day-glo coupler, and 3 day-glo collars (with 3 line name ID tags) for $24.00

I agree, you didnt see as many people carrying guns around to trade, but I think there was alot more guns available in the booths than at recent years at Kenton. I was keeping my eyes open for a Super Comanche, but never saw one.

kenton inside

I'd like to know the "rest of the story" I can't believe something that big and popular is just shutting down!
well there is more to it email me and I can tell you some stuff not good to mention here, but some things I can say is I did hear from some fellow dog men freinds that it was in part due to some money issues as some got "supposidly stolen" so taxes wernt paid

another thing I heard was some people had brought in some "skinny" dogs and either someone complained or they were worried over getting in trouble with peta about that

it wasnt cause of not making enough money cause i heard there was still proffit made about (though this sounds kinda high to me) about 2-4 million After all the vendors were paid and all when it was over

not for 100% sure on the profit part I had heard one of other racing freinds talking about it to another so i was goin on that, but I did hear the part about the hounds

and a 2 day private field trial was held last year saturday and sunday, i drove by there after I was done at lima and saw one food stand set up, and talking with one of dog freinds confirmed the race

heard there is going to maby be a nother' 2 day race for dogs this labor day weekend as well this year, just the signs say "private event" and its Not advertised

probly to bar any problems that could cause

also probly so that the event can be held "under the radar' without having to put any insurance on the grounds while its going on since its not the 'officlal kenton nationals

Went all day Saturday and still didn't see all of it. Lotsa vendors/dealers/flea marketers all over the whole fairgrounds - even had to put them around the track and some were set up inside the animal barns. Merchant's building and youth buildings were all filled but one as well.
Twas a fresh breath of air compared to Kenton - NO MUD,paved walkways, clean restrooms and showers. Admission price was $5.00 and worth it. Good food vendors set up as well.
I didn't see as many people carrying guns around as I do at Kenton but selection was pretty good from all the people set up in their booths and campers. I heard that the tally was just under 1,000 vendor spaces rented out. I imagine being the first year that some walk-ins were leary of carrying guns in for sale or trade.
Atmosphere was a little different as well. Was more "family friendly" it seemed to me.(My wife enjoyed it and my boys had a blast) No beer sales on site but carry-ins were allowed. I think that cut down on a lotta drunks running around. They also closed the gates at 7pm.
Overall I was pleased and hope Max did well. Will be nice to see it continue on as an annual event. I heard alot of positives about how nice the facilities were @ the fairgrounds.
was a fantastic turnout at fairgrounds last year max did Very well

(and by the way max Love your dog logo from last year the hound looking all cool with the cigar in his mouth, you should make that into some t shirts be cool looking:)

the pond is great so is the flea market and grounds, going to it again this year
yep Very good facilities and food resonably priced, its aso right next to an all night store so if you need anything you can even just walk right over and get it:)

looking forward to seeing everyone there again this year!

I plan on being there for sure. I was impressed last year and it was a fresh breath of air compared to the facilities at Kenton. Overall atmosphere was much better as well.

I wasn't aware of all the drama regarding things @ Kenton. Even if they wanted to, I don't think they'll ever be able to restore it to what it once was. They can keep their concerts and MUD and dust - I'm going to Max's at the fairgrounds!
