Hunting water holes

Discussion in 'Ohio Whitetail Deer Hunting' started by AuburnTigerOH, Sep 23, 2012.

  1. When is the best time to hunt water holes??? My son and I were scouting an area and found where two well traveled trails came together at a small pond. Lots of tracks there.

  2. opening weekend, been a very dry summer.

  3. Morning? Evening? Does it matter?

  4. If you don't have their pattern established, but you know they will be there at some point, set up and wait it out.

  5. if its very hot and water is hard to find it is a good time...deer get thirsty thru out the day in 90+weather with especially high humiidity...but they will stay close to the water so it can be tricky.1p-4p can be as good as any time to see them heading for water...if its cooler weather deer will water mainly at night and early morning...
