Discussion in 'Ohio Whitetail Deer Hunting' started by DValentine, Aug 29, 2012.

  1. I just recently got binvited to hunt some land in the southern part of highland county. I have never hunted there and only been there once. I was just wondering how the hunting is in that area?

  2. Some of the best.... But then again I say that about alot of county's..

  3. Second that. It's Ohio.

  5. In my opinion its some of the best there is....lots of ag but you are right on the edge of getting into more rugged areas. ROlling hills with the perfect mix of hardwoods, CRP and AGriculture. BIg bucks, tons of deer and good amounts of turkey too

  6. Really bad! Not what it once was.
    -Low deer numbers
    -Lots of poaching
    -Lots of Amish
-Herd is still recovering from EHD a few years back

  7. I haven't been to the southern part of the county to hunt for a couple of years now. What you have said above is exactly what Uncle Odie is now saying. In fact, he quit hunting due to "trigger happy amish". His area has been shot out according to him, and he had a really good area! He lives there, I'll take his word for it.

A few years back it was awesome, though!
