According to the Columbus Dispatch, Gov. Kasich is pushing for a 4th degree felony if your vehicle contains a hidden compartment with or without drugs being found inside.

A draft of the law describes a hidden compartment as a "space, box, or other closed container" that is added, modified or attached to an existing vehicle.
That's a pretty broad description and would include my locking attached roll out shotgun box in the back of my SUV or any gun safe put in by a CCW holder. Building in a tool box might also qualify.

Anyone know any more about this?

Would you say your shotgun box is hidden? The word "hidden" is somewhat subjective to me. Who makes the call? Kind of troubling I would say.

My gun box is usually hidden by extra shooting vests, half empty flats of shells, and target boxes full of empty hulls that I have sitting on top. You have to open the tailgate to see and open the box.

Would a magnetic hidden key box count?

Unless they find drugs or contraband in a "hidden" compartment, what business is it of the government's if I hide stuff in my car??
