Hello everyone I thought it would be a good idea to start a tread on what you are getting for your furs in different areas of ohio.

Here in Berlin Center, ohio we are getting $1.00 for x-large ****
I have been freezing them hoping the price goes up.

thanks Greg

hold on to em for sure. like i said in a thread in the past. if everyone had a way to hang on to there fur it would benefit the quality of the market and your wallets. here in medina county its full of small patch woods that most any man and a dog could blow through which makes finding them big ol bores much harder to come by if your a fur hunter any way, shape, or form you know that if you put the time, fuel, and hard work into obtaining, skinning, scraping, and hanging fur you deserve top dollar i know more goes out than comes in financialy when i **** hunt even though i love it for the sport. im going to gamble and play the market just like many do with stocks, intrest rates, all the way to which day to buy fuel on. goes back to the laws of supply and demand. best of luck to all of you.

A drop-off is always going to bring less money just as sloppy unfleshed '**** hides will. What you said tells me that '**** will be over $5.00 and probably alot more if properly handled...skinned, fleshed, properly stretched and inspection window trimmed.:D Another thing to consider is all fur in Ohio isn't created equal. This meaning that a '**** in NW Ohio is worth more to a buyer that one from SE or southern Ohio.

After reading Vettes reply, I thought this thread could use a few pics of properly put up hides for our younger, or less experienced fur handlers.

Badger great examples,(I don't go as far as mesh-clipping the tails), and that's exactly what I'm talking about. And the young guys need to remember to comb and pick out the burrs and comb the fur before skinning and fleshing. A burr not only detacts from the hide but can cause a super sized hole when fleshing. I used to **** hunt and would also sew larger holes caused by bullets / dogs and ol' Roger Zedike in Marks Center OH , (believe he's now gone), then didn't dock me for damaged fur. Notice how Badger has the hide on the back by the left and right of the beginning of the tail pinned. This is where measurement starts to determing size and doing this can add and inch to the hide and many times a increase in size value.
