Does anyone know of a good rod builder that can build a cat rod if you already have the blank picked out??
Im going to stick with my all around favorite flathead blank from St. Croix(CC80H), but i want better guides , reel seat and i have an idea on grip material i want to try out instead of regular cork?
Other than that i dont want to change the length, action any of that.

Here it is:

An 8' rod with plenty of backbone but castable, something I could put a trinidad on. I wanted cork taped handle like the Croix's and a roller tip. The blank needed to handle up to 60lb. line and 10oz.

That's not too nutz? Is that unrealistic.....seriously?

nope

not at all...
The ugly stik boat rods i use are 8' 1 pcs. rated up to 80lb test and 12oz. and cast good stock!
You can get that same blank from Jann's net craft for cheap and have someone put the guides and grips you want on them.

Rod builders

A guy I used to work with is real good at custom work, right now he has my E-Cats at his shop redoing the guides on them.

Right now he is slow with work, he leaves today for a workshop in Kentucky where he is teaching how to do rod building. he is a member of the rod builders guild, he handles mainly
G Loomis,St,Croix,Lamiglas,Rainshadow

Buck Creek Custom Rods

His e-mail addy is [email protected]

If you want a phone number send me an e-mail and I'll give it to you, he lives near Springfield, Ohio
