I have this new 6500 cat reel. My first problem is do I really want to use it? It's such a good looking reel that I'd hate to have the writing scratch off the side. I also leave the plastic wrap on the cork handles of my rods.
If I get a rod for it then it would have to be a Croix, All Star, Fenwick....something like that. I also have a problem mix-matching brands(Shimano on a Big Cat....things like that). Do I need to see fishing head doctor or do you guys share these tendancies?
If I get a rod for it I would have to be 7'6 to 8'6 and one piece. Also, what do I buy with my Fisherman's gift certificate? I guess that is another post........  :( ;)

I have a couple Big Cats. My 430 rides on the Heavy action and my MH is without a rider right now. I'm thinking the 435 or a 420? Then I will have to get a rod for my Corsair....or not....I really don't like that reel. Give it to anyone for $40.......it has the Calcutta live bait handle. Still works fine. Then a rod for my 975!!!!

Maybe I'll just sell everything and start over! That way I could do it right this time.......any one want to buy some fishing reels/rods?

Now if it was a corsair..ok..but no way im putting a Calcutta on anything lower than a Classic cat rod..but thats just my taste..lol;) :D
He BB i would take those Penns off your hands, BUT i dont like that brand at all..had one gave it away..never again will i buy another one!
I have my "Catfish" trophy collection reel on a shelf next to the carpmasters, musky, salmon and striper..probably wont use any of them..but they are there if needed;)

I like my 975 International. The 6500SS is strong, but after using the 4500BTR.........I really don't know why I bought a SS? But like I said, the SpinFisher has been strong and reliable and has hauled in it's share of flats and channels.

I would get rid of the SS, all my low profiles, the Corsair and my BlueRunner surf(got a good deal on it or I would not have it).

If I could do it over again I would have a pair of medium duty 7'6 spinning rigs, two light duty and one 8' medium light for creeks, ponds(general purpose). Two 4500BTR/ 7' heavy spinning rigs, two 3500BTR 8'6 medium rigs, two undecided heavy and medium casting rigs.

Get rid of all my crank baits and spinnerbaits(except for my Yo-Zuri little cranks and my roostertails). Basically all I would have is my small creek artificials and livebait/cat equipment.
