Ive been looking at buying the new Shimano Sustain 2500FD and wondered if anyone else has bought one and can compare it to the older Sustain??

I know the new Stradic MG is a lot smoother than the older FG model as i have both of them.Im hopin the same is true for the new Sustain also?

I'm sorry to say, but I was a bit disapointed in what they had. Their selection of Croix surf rods left something to be desired and no new Shimanos yet? Even Gander had some new Shimanos and got their Croixs in last week? :(

If they would have had

any of the 8'6" premier surf rods i would have bought them too..but they didnt...should have seen the look on Matts face when i said i have a GRAND in my pocket to spend..but only saw a few things on my list to buy...  :D .

I again argued with Ben(as i love to do) cause he was pushing that new Berkley line thats out(cant remember the name) hes a big Berkley fan..so i love to slam that line brand in front of him...he doesnt like the G-power for some reason..when i ask what he doesnt like about it..he cant tell me one thing wrong with it...im thinking he just wont admitt its a great line in front of me..lol as he knows i'll rub it in his face for sure!!!
I just dont see how guys that fish a LOT can use those lines..both Stren and Berkley mono sucks..it coils way to fast after you spool it up...id have to change lines once a week if i used that stuff! I have'nt had any problems with Co-Polymer lines, guess some just dont fish long and hard enough to figure this out..  ;)
He was lost when i started comparing line dia. of well know brands of line to G-power..i guess he never noticed its the smallest dia. co-polymer you can buy..hmm..lol
I use 6lb test and its about the same size as most brands 4lb test..thats how i can cast light baits FAR while wadin..my one buddy uses fireline and could never figure it out as his lines suposed to cast farther..lol..well i can give them ALL of my secrets now can i...i just tell him its the CASTER behind the rod..not the line....hahahaha

I don't think I'll ever buy regular monos again. Between coils, twists and frays.........it's a TRUE P.I.T.A

Last time I was there I bought some 6lb. G for the rig I use for early season tailwater 'eyes.

That was hilarious when you brought up Case......."Case knives?" "You're behind that counter too much!" LMMFAO

LMAO...

You heard that...oops!!
Yea hes set in his ways(more than i am if you can believe that), but yea he had no clue as to what i was talking about.
I did find one thing VERY interesting today....
Case makes a very life like Hellgie..now Venom came out with thier own Hellgie..i already have some of the Case ones..i grabed a pack of the Venom ones there($1.99) when i got home i compared them... ..they are made from the EXACT same mold..there is not one single difference in these baits..you can not tel them apart...and the Venom is much cheaper in price!!!
I also heard Venom makes a "madtom" and i bet anything they are exactly like the Case ones, but at a cheaper price!!!
So i picked up a pack of the Venom "salty slings" to see if they work just as good as the Case magic sticks or Yama Senkos....so far they look just like th others, but again..much cheaper!!!
Im heading to Galyans in the morning(around 9am) to buy some other lures i need to stock up on.

mad mans

Do suck bad...BUT there is a NEW one on the market that ive picked up that im betting will work a LOT better and has a scent(LPT) to it that will not only mask human scent, but also gasoline and other scents that will turn fish away;)
Ive read rave reviews on this new bait..but then again i never tried the madmans(cause they didnt make the size i prefer), but i heard from many that liked them??
These new ones come in 2.5", 3" and 4", thats why im heading to Galyans in the morning cause a buddy;) told me they had them in the color i prefer for all of my soft plastics..thanks AG.
I bought some out at Buckeye, but they were out of my color then:(

I had an old sustain, and like all of the shimanos I have owned, it developed line cuts in the PLASTIC line guide, right near the line roller. So I returned it yeasterday.

I got a new sustain 2500 (they don't make the 2000 size anymore-another mistake), and right away noticed it too has a PLASTIC line guide. My first impression is that they cheapened up the construction a bit.

It's a nice looking reel, but for the money, I'm gonna stick with my team daiwa 2000's. They NEVER get tangled, and have an ALUMINUM line guide.

I think the stradic mg would be a better buy than the sustain for the money. Shimano ALMOST got it right this time.
