Drawing deadline is April 1
Findlay, Oh - Anglers interested in a special fly-fishing clinic for beginners and the opportunity to fish the half-mile section of Cold Creek at the Castalia State Fish Hatchery in Erie County have until April 1 to submit their names for a lottery drawing. More than 135 slots are available for the popular program, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

In addition to fly-fishing instruction by Division of Wildlife staff and members of Trout Unlimited, attendees will be able to test their newly acquired skills by fishing for the abundant rainbow trout found in Cold Creek. Anglers may also encounter an occasional brown trout.

Instructors will offer two sessions per day from 8 a.m. until Noon, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on April 25, May 2, May 9, May 23 and June 6.

To apply, applicants must submit a postcard listing name, address and phone number. The applicant may bring one guest; but the guest’s name must be listed on the postcard at the time of submittal. Only one postcard per applicant and guest is allowed and no duplicates may be submitted. Post cards should be sent to: Wildlife District Two, Attention: Linda Keesecker, 952-A Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840. Deadline for postcard is April 1, 2003. Successful applicants will receive an assigned session date and time. Permits are non-transferable.
