Hi team! I will definitely be the anchor as this is my second spring out but I'm looking forward to chasing some turkeys once again! I'll be hunting in Noble, Muskingum, Cochocton, and Athens counties most likely. Best of luck to everyone!!
You guys should try " just behind team six"" or right on team six's heels!!! Lol if you make it down BB we will be hunting with your teamate Craig young!!! He has a few huge birds, but he is gonna let me shoot the biggest one!!!
Layed eyes on about 20 birds this morning. No chasing, breeding, strutting. One gobble. They are still in small groups. The woods habe barely started to green up!
Looking forward to starting turkey camp tomorrow morning. Weve located an area they seem to like to be... after tomorrow morning ill be walking a tail i found on Google earth. Its in between the area we hunt and a turkey management area. Im just going to walk and call until i locate one or multiples and see what happens
Congrats!! I will be out tomorrow to fight the rain and hope they are fired up after it clears before noon. And Sunday I'll be out so we will see how it goes!! I am super excited to pitch my tent and chase some birds!!
Well day two of my season wasn't much more eventful than day 1... I did hear one gobble early off in the distance and then nothing else. I had a hen come in and circle around me and then move off but that is it. Slow morning for sure.
We hunted thurs, fri, sat, sun. We got on birds every day. Jakes are grouped up, running off the bigger birds. They seemed to be roosting around creeks and ponds. Through out the day they'd move onto private. I called mine and about 12 others off of private and up a huge steep hill side onto an OLD logging tail where the terrain leveled out some. They only gobbled on the roost Friday morning. Other than that the only gobbles we hard were after 8am.
Well I was out over the weekend and just got back from my trip and heard a lot on the roost but nothing much after they hit the ground. Heard a hen going to town this morning but only one gobbler on the ground a few ravines over it sounded like. It was great to get out but I'm closer to tag soup. I may get out one day next weekend but that might be it.
I took down a freaking monster this evening guys!! I'm so proud of this bird. It took observation and patients, lots of patients. I forgot to weigh it but it had a 9.5in beard and 1.5in spurs. Id guess the weight at least 25+ lbs. God is good.
We have jumped up to 5th place guys. Great job! Final week. Good luck everyone
