Good morning everyone- Looks like no one stopped in last night for happy hour, including me.
Its been awhile, but the aroma of fresh brewed fills the air, the fireplace is burning, and time to warm this place up.
We have some carching up to do, and I am looking forward to hearing some stories.
I retired in May from my real job, so I could work more. Sounds crazy, but I am loving it.
With a little late start this morning, breakfast will be done shortly.
Help yourself to some pecan pancakes and the coffee is done.
Oh, the Dunkin Donuts are here from yesterday, so eat up.
Heading of to work, hope to see everyone at lunch.

Afternoon All. Late as usual. To many irons in the fire I guess.

Cambridge, Sounds like you had an awful good time in here. Thanks for cleaning up, and throwing Stacie or whatever her name is in that LIMO. The driver said she was missing "a few things" and to throw them in next time, if there is one.. Im not asking any questions, I don't want to know. And which one of you gave the limo driver MY address ???? Im still explaining that one to my wife.

BC, I have your wallet. It was in the couch. Again, I don't want to know. I figured I could use your American Express to pay for security on weekends since its getting busy here. Anyone seen Julio today? Looks like he didn't make it in. The freezer is pretty empty, a trip to Walmart is in the future.

Quiet for a Monday. Everyone must be recovering from the Super Bowl. The bookies sucked in the people again. When are they wrong? 6pts, a lot of people gave the points and went with the ***** cats. Bookies saw that coming.

Alright, I am getting while the gettins good. Cold and snowing outside the Saloon tonight, fire is burning, and with BC s Express Black card, enjoy yourselves tonight........and tomorrow.

Looks like I made the right choice earlier.
I saw, or rather heard, from two good stone throws away that several citizens were indeed inside the establishment last night...the hurrahing and galumphing made that as clear as Pete Layfield's well water.
Perhaps tho, it was only one person with a burlap bag over their head, but, irregardless as they say in these parts, hearing was enough of an indicator to bring on a bit of caution in my advancing years. And, being a non-hurraher by birth and inclination, I sat by my lonesome for spell out on the porch....by the bye, the right rocker rail has a flat on the bottom and before long I began to turn slowly towards Paducah, KY.....not a bad thing but a nod is as good as a wink to a blind man with bad lips.
Anyway, I rocked and turned and contemplated the unfairness that a pipe smoker can not smell the aroma of their own pipe...unless they leave the area and return.
The unfairness of that reality struck me rather savagely.....or it was an ashtray, not sure which as a lot started happening quicker than I could reckon.
Irregardless again, I took the striking as a sign, stopped long about Maysville and left out.
So, if an ashtray comes up missing...I may have it.
Peace out.

The coffee's on, the stove is heating up and there's fresh snow on the ground.

Rough night last night; night sweats, I guess. Just one more malady our education system failed to highlight during 8th grade health class.

Add enough highly combustible alcohol, tequila being right up there with rocket fuel, to this lean, mean, fighting machine and I guess we're just lucky I didn't self-detonate! I suppose with the new snow I could have gone outside and made snow angles. That certainly would have cooled me down, but more than likely opened up a whole 'nother can of worms, finding our hidden key after SWMBO locks me out being just one. Ha!

Morning. Slow go this morning, but the black lava is taking effect, and I should be having at this FAT Tuesday pretty quick here.

BC, menopause isn't so bad. My wife got thru it ok, not to many bruises anyway. A few Motrin every couple of hours washed down with a snort or two of Pitrone, and youll be back here in no time.

February must be national fundraising month. Everyday Ive been donating gift cards, buying something, ticket for this, ticket for that. Im pretty sure if I win every raffle Im in, I should be able to retire.......again.

Planning on staying in my office as much as possible today, and I just might get something done. Always a distraction.

Still no Julio, so everyone is on their own. Walmart is open all night, so after work last night I stopped and got some peanut butter and grape jelly, and a pound of Oscar Meyer. Had to put the cheese back cause my CC was over the limit AGAIN. So enjoy fellas, Oscar Meyer is the best.

BC, menopause isn't so bad.
Contrary to popular belief, we men do suffer from both menopause and mental pause. I suffered through the former and lived, but will most likely be suffering from the latter from here on out.

View attachment 20664 Should be fun ceiling height at ridge is 20.5 feet yeehaw. I'm thinking Samuel Adams cold snap for happy hour.
I got my pilot's license in '69 and I'm still scared of heights today. You be careful up there. I don't want you dropping anything, especially any Sam Adams.

Two overlapping meetings tonight; ought to be interesting. I mean it ought to be, but neither will be.

It's probably too early to start and I'm not too sure exactly what day it is anyway: Tequila Tuesday or Tangueray Tuesday? Let's see...yesterday was either Martini Monday or Margarita Monday, I don't remember which. In fact, I don't remember much of yesterday. Then, in that case, I guess it was Margarita Monday. So, pour me one up, please, shaken not stirred. And a twist of lemon this time. I don't want another slice of yellow apple like I found in that last one. Or was that from cam eating lunch up in the rafters?

Where's Julio?

Brown Wood Beam Triangle Symmetry
Morning fellas, woke up to the snow wow, factor this morning. Had to take the day off due to not being able to get materials. Would be a blessing, but I got some deadlines to be meet by Monday so missing a day at this point puts me in a pinch. Heading now to go look at some stains for the naughty pine tounge and groove ceiling I'll be putting in as soon as the heat gets turned on. Should be fun ceiling height at ridge is 20.5 feet yeehaw. I'm thinking Samuel Adams cold snap for happy hour.

Ouch! Late night yesterday. I regret not getting back, but with the weather as it was and with meetings where the attendees think Robert's Rules of Order is something I just made up, I didn't get in until late.

Oh, well, today is another day; cold, snowy, cold. But, the fire's lit, the coffee's hot and SWMBO said something about some evidence of water under the kitchen sink. Oh, joy! Good ol' indoor plumbing at its best.

I've written about my Grandpa Little before; dairy farmer in the U.P., worked logging camps throughout the winters to keep his large family from becoming wolf bait. He had life pretty much figured out by the time I could comprehend what he was talking about. Anyway, his philosophy regarding indoor plumbing went something like this:

In the early '60s, the grandparents were coming up on their 50th wedding anniversary. So, the family went in together and installed an indoor toilet, a first for this aging couple. It was a gift to celebrate the event that was very practical, a requirement in that family.

That summer we went up to the big yard party and outside BBQ at their farm. There was a great gathering of family and friends from all over. Anyway, I was like 12 years old and found myself after the big meal sitting next to Grandpa on a brand new picnic table watching the men sneak drinks and throw horseshoes.

My Grandpa, a very old and weather-beaten man by then, turned to me and said, "Boy (he always called me Boy) the world has turned completely upside down. Now, we eat outside and we sh** inside."

Those sage words have molded my entire philosophy on indoor plumbing to this very day.

Hey, it's Wino Wednesday!

Good Morning BC and everyone else
Coffee taste good this morning BC, and I cooked up some sausage and blueberry cakes to go along with it.

Good luck on the plumbing. I learned aloooong time ago , with the help of the CEO, that if its not broke, don't fix it, if it is broke, call someone that can fix it. Works for me most of the time. Most simple projects, ie, leak under kitchen sink, will likely turn into replumbing the whole neighborhood.

Been a quiet week here in the Saloon. The cold and snow must keeping people in. Getting some things caught up here today, making an appointment next week with the accountant, 2015 is officially over.

With that, help yourself to BC s coffee and bluberry cakes with sausage, and keep the fire going today.

Fire's lit, coffee's hot and my mind's right, Boss.

Major data meltdown yesterday; a humbling experience demonstrating just how dependent and vulnerable I am to this electronic device. I've bitten through every nail I could find. I used so many expletives yesterday I'll probably end up having to repaint the office walls. Bailey, the Wonder Dog, took all my ammunition away and hid it.

And SWMBO wants the leak under the kitchen sink fixed...NOW!

Oh, well, all things must pass, including documents stored on a computer.

Birthday party today for the 10 y/o granddaughter. I wanted to get her a 1979, extra fine finish, 12-gauge, No. 2 Purdy s/s that she could use as collateral for med school, but that idea was shot down, figuratively of course. We have extra grandkids that I planned to use for a trade-in. Eventually after 45 years you would think that SWMBO would stop asking me for gift ideas, especially when she's standing over me while I'm waist deep under the kitchen sink!

Ominous black clouds overhead for this morning's sunrise. The horizon is pink but the sky is black. I'm impressed. I just hope the image doesn't bode ill for my attempt to recover my data files.

I'll be back after the party.

What a day! Stressful is not the word for it. Just got home a little while ago. Tried to lay it down for the night! Got materials coming tommorow! Now I'm running from the basement to upstairs looking at my notes never a dull moment! Here for a quick swig and out!

Hey, all. Had a little trouble getting here this morning. Seems like the server was unavailable. Probably the DOJ "washing" it before the FBI takes it over for further investigation.

Cold one this morning. Y'all be careful. It's easy enough to get hurt, even easier when it's cold.

I've got a day to spend on the computer, recovering files/documents and it's Free-4-All Friday. So, BCC, I'll most likely be sipping on that jar of yours, if you'd be so kind.

#138 ·
OK, I'm ready to have at it!

If any of you don't back up your important data/files yet, believe me, you'll want to consider it. I had some big-time update on the computer that automatically starting doing its thing, asking about things I know little or nothing about. I was pretty happy the way it was running already.

Well, to make a long story short, somehow my documents got all scrambled up, some missing, some in the wrong place, etc., etc.

Luckily I do a back up every week. Even then, I had to go through just about each and every file to see if it was the current one or some other one that the computer thought I needed. The only plus I see is this whole thing did get me to dump a bunch of unnecessary junk.

So, pass me that jar and I ain't waiting for a glass. BCC, where's the back-up when this is gone?

#142 ·
Morning, all. Where did all these empty jars come from?

Another cold one this morning. Just 2F currently on the remote and that's up from when I first looked at it this morning. I'm struggling to get the fire going and some biscuits in the oven. Either or both would help warm it up in here.

But, the fire marshal, who must be obeyed, will neither let me carry in firewood across her clean floors until I can walk without ricocheting off the walls nor play with flour in her clean kitchen until I can look her in the eyes with both of my eyes...at the same time.

She also wants me to keep any open flames away from my breath. I guess that was some powerful stuff, BCC.

Get ready for he next football and deer season, what else?

Really we do the same things we do during those seasons, only different. There may not be a lot of ice fishing where you are, but we do OK up here. Pig hunting is popular both north and south although getting permission from the farmers is tough to do no matter where you are, sometimes even tougher than getting permission from his daughter.

Those are couple things this motley crew does this time of year. How about you?

I've got some wine I need to work on. Need to bottle some sweet corn wine from last summer to get ready for this fall. Have some potato wine fermenting I need to get into glass this weekend.

I do flintlock shooting events and primitive camping to get ready for. Actually I'm doing a winter rendezvous up by Grand rapids that I need to get ready for. It's at a recreated village from the 1700s with a tavern, inn, cabins, longhouse, trappers huts etc. Really cool place. Hoping to do some ice fishing there too.
