Coyote Pelts
I've never hunted coyote before, but I really have the urge to go give it a try. I was just wondering what you guys do with the pelts if anything. My father had someone who worked with him getting $40 a pelt but I have no idea where from. I also found an old thread on this site from 2004 that talked about a $50 bounty but I haven't found anything else.

Talk to your local taxidermist and see what he's paying for a pelt. Back about 4 years ago in NH, I was getting roughly $30 a pelt. The pay varied depending on the coyote's size.

Whelp BigJohnny, if your lookin' at $40.00 and a bounty you're going to be extremely disappointed. Coyote last year were averaging,(Ohio), at about $15.00 and there is no bounty in Ohio. They're also alot of work to skin as they don't pull down like a 'coon or muskrat. They are however a thrill to call in..it'll make the hair on you neck stand up and heart pound...

I'm honestly not worried about the money, I'm really interested in trying it. As far as I'm concerned as long as they're already dead, may as well turn in the pelts.

Well, no matter what you decide to do, either keep them or try to sell them, you need to take care of them properly. If you skin them yourself, you either need to freeze or salt them. However, to salt them you should learn how to turn the ears and split the nose and lips. If you take one to a taxidermist to have him skin, salt, and tan, it will run you around $100-$150 and then you have a nice pelt to hang on the wall or get mounted. As far a selling goes, I don't know much about that part, but you'll probably have a hard time finding a taxidermist to buy them, unless they deal in the fur trade. Good luck with your calling!

we sell our pelts to Paulette fur company in Malvern. It seems like he always has the best prices going. or you can look into sterling fur, in sterling ohio, as he buys alot of raw furs too. I would suggest either reading or watching videos on how to put up fur as a lot of people dont know how to and pretty much ruin the fur. if you dont feel like going to all that work skin them and throw them in the freezer. the last option is if you ahve a fur buyer near you, most of them will buy them on the carcass if you dont want to mess with putting up the pelt

ohio yotes are not the best as far as fur goes. i gotten as much as 23.00 for one pelt and as low as 2.00 for a pelt. look for ohio yotes to average around 5-10.00 this season and that is put up !

To get a good price out of one you should get it tanned and then try to find people wanting one to hang in a room.
Selling it to a country buyer or at an auction will not get you much this year from what I have been reading and hearing.
To sell one to a taxidermist you got to talk to one to see how they want it skinned out.
