Does anybody know whether or not we are allowed to take down exotic animals? a month ago i saw a large black cat out in a field near where i hunt. This thing has been loose for around 6 years now and is beleived to be a black panther. there is a guy who raises exotic animals a few miles away from where the cat is usually seen, and he must have gotten loose years back, but he still manages to stay alive each year. He was about the size of a full grown lab, because at first i thought he was a black lab, until he leaped onto a branch that was about 5 or 6 feet off the ground and looked over at me. Any information would be appreciated. Just kind of concerns me considering i walk to and from my treestand b4 and after dark with that thing out there. I tried contacting the game warden, i left him a message and he's never contacted me back, but he probably thought i was joking. haha! well anyhow, yeah i was just wondering if we were allowed to shoot em if we got the opportunity, thanks

maybe call your local newspaper too, maybe they will take it seriously enough to force law officials to check into it...keep badgering the warden...hard totell what mess one can get into by shooting it but one must defend himself...

As far as i know if it is a real panther it will be fair game ,Due to it is not on our bag limits,I would guess it would be treated as the same as if a bull elk or fallow deer got loose from a farm ,They are fair game.If i saw a real panther i would take it out.

CD2 - your probably right - if its as big as a full grown lab and can jump 5 or 6 feet up to a limb it could easily pull down a child and probably an adult - shoot it
take care

If you truly thought it was a panther Id take it. It is a danger and like previously mentioned, awesome bragging rights.
