Just got a Cabela's King Kat rod with bait casting reel. I don't do much cat fishing but enjoy a nice evening on the bank once in while. I'm in the Cincinnati area. Any good rigs or tips?

I think that the most universal and utilitarian rig for catfishing is the slip-sinker rig. However, I don't use that rig very often. Because 75% of my catfishing is on the Great Miami River, I use the 3-way rig most of the time because I believe it doesn't get snagged up as much on all the rocks and other debris that's in the GMR.

Cabella's makes good stuff, you should be in good shape. I'd recommend getting yourself some no roll flat slip sinkers. Then set up a slip rig, sinker, then strong swivel, then your lead and hook. Make your lead according the current, lots of current no lead at all, still water go with up to a foot. Oh yeah, I like to put a bead between the sinker and the swivel to protect the knot. USE CUT BAIT, it's the best, shad and skipjack for channel, live for flats.
