Went to the big pond on Saturday. Ran out to the 28 line and fished for eyes for 4 hrs. Not a bite. Came back in to the Castle and started drifting for smallies. Caught 8 in 3 hrs. They were all between 18 and 20 inches, some real pigs. All fattened up for winter. Came on tubes and grubs, color didn't seem to matter. Went back out Sunday and there were perch boats sitting right on top of where I fished the day before. Ended up fishing in closer and caught 10 but it took 6 hrs. to get them. Unfortunatly I didn't get a pic. of the biggest ones as my camera went dead.http://img5.ranchoweb.com/images/orlando/smallies.jpg

Nice fish Orlando!
We electric trolling motor right in those perch packs and vertical jig with spoons and blades and do good on the smallies.

Well I had the drift sock out and was still drifting almost 3/4 of a mph. , she was blowing a little hard for that. I fought it for a while with my trolling motor but got tired of it and fished elsewhere. Used 3/8 oz. jigs and still had a hard time getting contact with the bottom in deeper water.Funny thing is the day before all the perch boats were on the east side of the reef. I really think that they just go where ever another boat is anchored .

Good ole Erie!
Those smallies around that area seem to like the wind stirrin things up. I even run 1/2-3/4 oz jigheads when it's rough and and I'm fishin deeper than 20 ft deep. I've had some pretty slow days there when it was calm.
Where is the water the cleanest? sharrod park or the castle?
Did ya bury a bunch of jigs?:D

Water was very murky everywhere. Ran out several miles for some eyes first thing and it never did clear up. Ya lost a bunch of jigs, gotta buy some heavier metal for those rough days

Between the dang Go-Bee's & the Ice-out to Ice-up fishin' pressure sure makes for a tough bite at this end of Erie anymore..

I just read about Bassin' the other end of Erie before makin' my last stop of the day at OS...

Artificial lures are likewise popular, with tube jigs leading the way; Campbell and Cinelli favor dark-colored soft tubes, with brown, green, and a hint of purple in them, to mimic the look of gobies.
