Three cheers for Sunday hunting in Ohio. I was able to get in an extra hunt here and there on Sundays.
Anyone else able to take advantage of it?

We have lots of land here so I have been able to hunt on Sunday for some years. But I think it is great that it is a day all can hunt. Hunt on!!:D

It's good to get to hunt on Sundays, but please respect the landowners. Some don't want hunters on there land all 7 days.

I know what you mean Desperado. I try to be mindful of the landowners in all ways. In Ohio we are blessed with a tradition of farmers and other landowners that grant permission for hunting and trapping.
Landowners that grant permission should be respected for their generosity. Do things for them with a smile on your face and thanks in your heart.
One landowner that granted me permission is now a friend. I would go to his place in heartbeat if he asked me for help. In fact I didnt even hunt on his land this year LOL. But I was there for a couple of dinners. LOL

I have also made a lot of friends by going back in the spring to work around the farm and shoot up a bunch of the groundhogs. Those farmers HATE groundhogs...and I love shooting them.

I am extremely happy to be able to hunt on Sundays! I work a differemt schedule and I don't have a bunch of extra time during the archery season. I was thrilled when they opened up for Sundays. More time in the woods ..... boom, there you have it. As for the church services that were cancelled ... none! Remember, church is everywhere, yes even 20 feet up in a tree. It's just hard to convince others of that though.

I've said many prayers 20'up!
"please let this deer keep coming"
"Can you get this buck broadside for me"
" god I think he winded me"
"Please let me see at least a doe"
and the list goes on!

You lucky devil! I haven't been able to get within 50 feet of a squirrel since I got married. Everything I own now smells like cat, and the squirrels don't like it at all!

Should have been this way many years ago, opens the door for more people to enjoy the sport.

I had planned on taking advantage of it, but I've not hunted since my dad shot his! I need to find someone to go hunting with now. I have a friend that goes, maybe I'll try to go with him.

Hey NUT,
Where are you from in the Toledo area. And yes, pawclaws, there are some trees, but it seem never a good enough one in the perfect spot. I wish we had the rolling hills and tick stuff like down in SE Ohio .... hmmmmm, no I don't. I lke the flat land in NW OHIO it's easy to get to anf from your stand.

I'll tell you, after the up and down of these "gently rolling hills" there are days I'd trade for flat and level! :D Nut are you going to the Michigan squirrel hunt in a couple of weeks?

As a PA resident I appreciate the fact that you have Sunday hunting. I really enjoy hunting in Ohio as a matter of fact I love it..tooooo bad this primitive freekin' state that I live in can't be a little more progressive, it makes me sick...believe me we have no management whatso ever, they are changing directions constantly and have no idea of where they are going...your state is so much better in it's management ideas and as a hunter in PA for 37 years I know what i'm talking about...can't wait til' the fall opener for turkey!!

I hunt OH because I can hunt both Sat. & Sun. every weekend that I want! I think Sun. hunting in PA will be starting in the next few years. I have hunted PA for 41 years and loved every minute of it.

Good point George! :) Hard to believe that anyone can look at all of the marvelous things on the face of the earth and not see God! Your comment reminded me of my late UUncle Johnny Slater who is probably the most Godly man I have ever known. To the best of my knowledge he never warmed a pew. :)

thats how i feel pawclaw, too many revs./preachers tuhday are filthy rich,an i think thats pretty low...you dont have tuh pay somebuddy tuh understand god,its out there for free, god doesnt charge
I agree george, I couldn't have said it any better, god don't charge you nothing, and you don't have to be in church to find him, either. he is open for business 24/7 365 anywhere, anytime, anyplace no man could build a temple to god that rivals the beautiful woods and wildlife that he has made. I certainly feel closer to god in my treestand on a beautiful 60 degree fall evening watching deer move in my direction, and wondering how I could be this lucky to have everything come together at the right time, you bet your boots I thank god for this. no man could do this for me.
