Primitive is a stick and a string.

A compound bow is not a primitive weapon. The Hittites would have been a much more formidable empire if their archers would have had 80% let-off!

It ALL depends on ones definition of primative!

My definition is anything that does NOT fire a "metalic" cartridge (shotgun shells are included, since they have a metalic base) is PRIMATIVE! This means in-line muzzleloaders are primative and Savage "smokless powder" muzzleloaders are primative.

Anything that "flings" an arrow or bolt is primative, yes crossbows are primative, too....even 300+fps crossbows and compounds fall into PRIMATIVE.

A stick & string is primative and so it a spear or knife!:D

These Winchesters are over 40 years old.

The current compound isn't primitive today but will be some time in the future. Today's 'primitive' is yesterdays 'state-of-the-art'.
