I recently moved to OH and live near Dayton. I've done a lot of pheasant hunting in IN where the annual harvest is 30K and I had a blast there; here in OH the harvest is 200K. Where are these birds? I know plenty of places to "hunt" pen raised birds, but are there any places in SW or Central OH with a huntable population of wild birds?
I'm not looking to find out your honey holes, just general areas.
Thanks.

i've flushed several wild birds this year in the springvalley/ceasars creek area while walking to some dove fields. the problem with wild birds in sw ohio is they are found almost exclusivley on private land, and get the heck out of dodge after the opener if they are on public land. you would have better luck in central or ne ohio, but for down here its hit or miss if they will be anywhere near public land. of course you could be like the rest of us and strap on your kevlar and head to the release areas.

Thanks gstrick27,
I refuse to hunt public land for the releases for safety reasons. I did it for one season and saw a bunch a guys claiming to be "hunters" looking to shoot anything that moved.
I may have to a look a bit closer at finding some wild birds in Central OH.

Thanks CatKing...I've heard that from a few sources now. I think I will ahve to drive up that way and see if I can start to develop some relationships with the farmers up that way.
