........put Rain-X on my Horton crossbow scope lenses?

I'm afraid it might eat away at the protective covering on the lenses.

I was out last weekend during the mist and I had a hard time between my glasses and the scope sort of fogging up.

Any other suggestions besides the Rain-X?

Call the manufacturer of the scope, you are right it may affect the protective coating. Instead of Rain-X maybe get soem anti-fog solution for eyeglasses.

You could always start shooting a real bow. Then you wouldn't need sights.

Why do you need a scope for your crossbow?

That's a good idea. I'll look into that and get back to you.

It came with it and I feel more comfortable using it rather than the pin sight.

Your crossbow didn't come with a scope, FA? ;)

Elitest do you shoot alongbow or recurve? If not I bet you use sights........

I think he uses the arrow for his sight. He throws his arrows the same as you would throw a football.

So does he use a recurve or longbow?

He uses a recurve and a compound.

No sights on the compound huh?

Duffy, Are atlatl's legal?

I had a history professor in college who made one and demonstrated it in class. (Outside that day, of course!) He used it to chuck a spear or two at a hay bale, and he did a great job! As for their legal status, probably not, but I don't know. Wouldn't be for me: Can't put a scope on an atlatl!

But this thread is about whether you should put Rain-X on your scope lenses. I say no.

one really good point to having a scope on a crossbow is that it gives you a better sight picture in low light conditions like early morning and late evening.
elitest, that must be some really good stuff that you smoke!!!!!

whats this dudes problem? if you dont like crossbows man, then thats fine. But quit bashing peoples post just because they use them. I dont think that other people using crossbows is affecting you in any serius way is it? I mean if all you have to do is sit around and wait to bash peoples post about crossbows, then maybe you should go scouting or go to church or doing something else productive with your time. Face it, crossbows will probably always be used for deer hunting as long as deer are around, no matter if you like it or not, and I highly doubt that you will change that. Get over it.

I don't know if I'd do it Jimmy.

CON-I once put it on my Laser Sight on my x-bow.It seemed to give the illusion of a blurred red dot on the deer's vitals as it projected across the woods and onto its body.

PRO-Although,it DID work great on my nightvision scope-no blurring and I could even make out the number of points on each antler !!

NEUTRAL-I had mixed results on my infrared heat seeking image finder. At times the rain-x seemed to weaken it's effective range like maybe it formed some kind of thermal barrier ?? All the deer looked like they were blobbed into one image.

;)

:D Man I love this place !!!!!!:D

I was only asking because to me a scope would make using a crossbow easier than it already is.

And you wonder why I don't like you?

Comments like that won't make you friends around here.

My guess is that you'll be nothing but a smart a** from here on out.

Let me recommend a website for you....... bowsite.com. You'll be more comfortable over there.

Try not to concern yourself with my posts when it comes to crossbows, kay? Your opinions have been noted.

I have been to bowsite and it did not apeal to me.

When have I ever made a rude comment to you?

Jimmy

Your last one.

But I'm done. I'm not going to get into a crossbow debate with you or anybody else.

Yes.....I use a crossbow. Yes.....I use a crossbow with a scope on it. Get over it. It doesn't make it any easier. It makes it more efficient and more likely that I will make a clean kill.

Shoot what you want. I'll shoot what I want AND CAN.

Instead of rain-x you could try this...

You guys take this waaaay too seriously.

Jimmy

I don't take it seriously.

I take everything with a grain of salt.

I know that the "sticks" don't like us evil crossbowers. But I'm not going to let them make their comments without some feedback. We must fight for what we believe in just the way they must fight for what they "think" is what is right.

I'm cool......and incredibly handsome.

I would use a scope with a reticle, and no I owuldn't put rain-x on it. Might want to try blizzard covers by butler creek.

You didn't offend me. You just made me cry for a little bit. When my wife asked what was wrong, I told her a bug flew in my eye.
