Well, I stuck a nice one tonight. Has quite a story to it. I just got into the stand, about 5:00. A squirrel was coming in so I nocked an arrow on with a field tip. I was ready to draw back on the squirrel when he showed up. When I first saw him he was only 15 yards away, funny how they can sneak up on you! Anyway, I had to change arrows then draw my bow back without him seeing me. Somehow I did it. I shot him through the lungs and he ran about 40 yards and bedded down. I saw him lay down but I still went home and got dad to give him some time. He was still laying there when we got back! He's a main frame 8 with a split G2. Nice 9 point.

great job holdin up under pressure! switchin arrows around had to be a chore with him bein that close.
nice bow too. is that a v-tech or razor?

No, unfortunately we didnt get it on video. We decided to hunt seperate tonight. O well, I had the time of my life tonight, video or not. The bow is a MT Sport, 2003's bow. My dad has a VTEC.

I didnt hear a thing! Just looked over and saw him. I think my heart skipped a few beats when I saw the rack. Boy did I get buck fever!!

I cant believe how lucky I am!! In the 360 degrees around me I had one opening to get a shot, and he just stood there!!! and I had to change arrows when he was a 15 yards!!

Something I didnt mention is that when I tried to draw back, I still had my squirrel arrow in my mouth, didnt even know cuz I was so excited. Had to put the squirrel arrow on the seat of the stand then draw back!!

I still have a hard time believing that I killed a deer that big. I have to look at the pictures just to confirm that I wasn't dreaming. And now that the deer is at the taxidermist, I can't even touch the antlers. Im still in shock that this mature buck decided to walk under my stand that day.

Hunter, congratulations! You should have your taxidermist extract the jawbone from this deer and age it for you. You could also send the jawbone away to a biologist. I think you will be surprised how old this buck is! Congratulations again and be sure to let us know what he scores and how old he is!

I think it is an older deer. It was big headed and big bodied. The taxidermist guessed him at 4.5 years old, but thats without looking at the jaw.

What do you think he would score? I know it's hard to tell by the pics, but I was just wonderin. I guessed him at 125-130

really solid tine length. his mass measurements won't be that great. Im guessing him as a 123 inch gross 2 1/2 yr. old....again, congratulations on a beauty!

Man, I suck at trying to score deer by looking at pictures. I'm guessing 125 right now. You're making me want to get out in the woods even more now, thanks a lot. I still haven't gotten to hunt yet. College sucks.

Its not meant as in insult or to offend you,
Your a very Young looking 18.
you actually look about as old as my son and his friends 15-16 years old.

You will learn to appreciate the youthfull look when you start hitting your late 30's.

You will still have a shot at women in there earlyier to mid 20's when your in your later 30's.

dont take it as an insult, it is a compliment.

see it as a blessing not a curse. LOL!!!

hunTer06, great looking deer. I think I met you this past saturday down on the county road. You were in a little white car with a young boy shooting a recurve. My name is Erik, I was the one you stopped and chatted with for a while. I had the big red F150. Will you be down there this weekend?

yeah that was me!! Whats the chances of that!?

Yeah I killed that deer on my proprety the very next day. We have deer cameras all over the property and never got a picture of that deer.

You been goin out lately??

We will be there all day saturday and hopefully this will be my day. I saw alot of does saturday. The bucks will come. You know, yours makes the second 8-9 point within 500 yards of each other since opening day. The guy who was driving that burgundy dully took a nice 8 point opening day. Are you still doe hunting or what? See you saturday if your down there.

Yeah, It's only the 12th and I've killed 2 deer already. I've been doing more filming than hunting believe it or not. I'll tag out before gun season and be the driver I guess.
