I'm going out in the suburb in the morning. Wondering if I should try and grunting or light rattling?

I observed two bucks sparring a few days ago, so rattling wouldn't be too bad of an idea. You should keep it at a calm rattle, just tickling the horns together. Don't try anything agressive yet.
GOOD LUCK!

A little tickle couldn't hurt.

As long as it is only a little light "play" sparring kind of rattling. You can also use the grunt tube, but be sure to stay away fromt he tending grunt (low, short, gutteral)...stick to the social/curious grunt (a little higher pitched, drawn out). Let us know what happens.

i would definately make some doe bleats. I made 2 doe bleats with my mouth at a doe that was 60 yards out.....boy she turned her head and was really curious. 1/2 hour later she is on my downwind side at 30 yards, but my cameraman in a different tree was between her and me, so I had to pass up the shot. Doe bleats really play on their curiosity

I would say if things are slow and your not seeing many deer, then try to peak some interest with rattling lightly, too early to be aggressive. The doe bleets are great any time too.
