Okay guys and gals, we will be having the third annual buck poll here at OhioSportsman.Com. If we can get some prizes donated. Sponsors are few this year and it is going to be difficult to get any. So if a few of you will contribute a prize we will get this show on the road. I will donate a prize myself and get it sent off in the mail this week. If there are any others of you that would like to do the same, please let me know and I will post an address in which to send the prize to. This is what we had to do for the Spring Turkey Contest, and it was a great contest. Lets make this a great contest this year as well & good luck to all.
Don't forget this contest is based purely on our members votes. The best rack doesn't neccessarily win. I myself would vote for a picture taken with a nice background (i.e. not in the back of a truck, etc) and shows respect for the animal with a higher vote than a buck that might have a bigger rack.
You do have to be a registered member to win

Thanks for getting this thread started:
I have created a new category in our Photo Gallery called 2005 Ohio Bucks. This is a place where you can upload pictures of the buck(s) you've taken only in 2005 and only in Ohio. Registered users of this site can vote on the pictures uploaded there and that alone will determine the winner. The winner of the contest wins a prize(s) yet to be determined.

Thanks

Autographed Mossy Oak hat, maybe a bottle of tinks or something else as well.
Let me know if the hat should be unautographed...

Ok, what about rules. Can we at least take the contest out to the end of Ohio's deer season which is 1/31/06. Is there anyway a moderator could move a picture from the contest forum if it was A. The person posting pic is not the person in the pic( for example when someone posts a pic of someone across town's deer and maybe that someone is not a member?). I know the rule is that only a member can win, but when all those other pics get posted there then it can be confusing. B. There should be a rule that only 1 photo can be entered in the contest gallery and then other pics could be uploaded into a different category.
Maybe, I am making things too difficult for a simple contest but I do recall there being some concerns at the conclusion of last year's contest.

Considering I have hunted with my cousin 10 years in a row, the same week each year. It has become quite a tradition for me to travel up to Ohio each year to spend time with him in the outdoors.
As exciting as it is to harvest your own animal, I find it just as exciting when he harvest an animal and I do not.
It is the experience that is the trophy!
So if the hunting is good, I hope I am able to enter this years contest no matter who is in the photo!
Good luck to all this season!
Steve

We will keep the contest open till 1/31. As far as people posting other people's pictures there is really no way to know for sure. People have to be on their honor.

I just did a rough count on all the different bucks by different hunters and it appears that a LOT of people(guys and gals) were able to harvest a nice buck this past fall.
Total count to date: 61
For those of us with a buck tag remaining(myself included) we have a few weeks left to giter done!

Sure! I would love to go hunting with you Jimmy. I keep hearing reports of sheds and bucks losing their racks and it has me a little bit discouraged, but I think I know of a few spots we could go to where we could get a look at a deer or two.
I am thinking of going Thursday(am) and possibly Saturday(am or pm). Not sure about Sunday(I think Spittin said something about going with Josh, but I can't recall?). Call me and let me know.

As of yesterday Steve still has not received any prizes. I know that some of you have sent them, why they were not received is a mystery to me. If you can possibly contribute something, even at this late date it would be greatly appreciated.
I sent a prize myself yesterday, hopefully it will get there.

Jimmy, I am sure it will get there. If I thought there was a problem I would not have sent mine.
For some reason coonskinner seems to have had the problem. I don't know why. I have sent things to that address before with no problem whatsoever.

Yes, it is certainly coming down to the wire. I hope everyone realizes that if they intend to vote they need to go into the gallery and put a rating on the pics they want to and after 1/31/06 you will not be able to rate these pictures as the contest will end on that date. I'm still trying to fill a buck tag, but it is lookin like my chances are quite slim now. I'll get out a couple more times though so you never know.

Tip,
I want to mount a protest. Not only did I let you hunt there, but I took the dang picture! I think it's not the object/subject being taken, yet instead the photographer. I mean come on man, you wanted to put on the Bill Jordan make-up and stuff, I suggested against it. I took all the angles man, I made you "stike a pose", I told you to spit out your chaw, told you to smile,
I should get an award for this, I mean Mona Lisa didn't get recognition and she was the subject, bu tinstead the "artist" did.
Split it 50/50?
I am thinking that if I would of had a better photgrapher I might have won this (hehhehehe, your picture taking ability is "2nd best" to say the least!)
IN other news: Called Mercer yet to see about our mounts?
Oldhat "El Photgrapher".
P.S. My photo ability makes you look 60 Lbs lighter!
