We fished the Hawgfest today starting at the 31-19 line for a few hours and nothing. We then moved north to the 39-18 or so line and about the same results only a few sheephead and white bass, although,I did catch my first channel cat on a dipsey and scorpion spoon. After 6 hours of trolling and no eyes we made the 20mile hike back to Huron. We threw everything at them, Dipseys/spoons, harnesses, rip sticks behind dipseys, downriggers, jets/ boards with no success. At the check in we found out there were alot of others with 0-4 fish on the day. I believe 8lbs won it. The entire WBSA crew that put the event together did a great job! Steve it nice talking to you at the end there, I'll be in touch when the Cleveland thing starts up.

Capt Thomas, the waves must have rattled your brain out there. This was a tourney that should have been called for another day, thats just my opinion. I had a great time meeting everyone there and seeing all my fishin buds, but it was just a little to rough out there to enjoy it. I know we had 3-5 ft waves and the occasional 6 footer, maybe that was just were we we fishing. Like always i had a good time with you guys out there , but i would like to do it on a little better bite next time. Congats to the winner of the fest. YOU EARNED IT. Good luck and tight lines.

No spin Ray, just 2 web sites worth of computer geeks with no internet access for 2 days.

Dominick Ritz, Ray Urban and Brian Lam ran away from the 58 boat field with one 7.1 pounder (big fish) and 2 small keepers for 8.5 pounds total that won them $3000. Boyd Martin / Ray Sterk / Chris Woods / Denny Braun / Brett Flaczynski were second with a late day 45 minute rush that netted them 7.4 pounds total.

To say the fishing was brutal would be accurate, not even white perch were biting in the big rollers that delayed us for an hour in the morning. There were over 300 at the Hawg Roast afterward.

We will have a complete update by Monday afternoon when we catch our breath and get everything organized.
