White caps on the big pond today so we fished the Sandusky river north of Fremont to the bay.
The river had a pretty heavy stain, but clear enough near the
rip rap to fool 10 largies into eatin a spinnerbait or a
black/chartreuse jig n pig. Nothing big, but they were all
around 2lb keepers, so it was fun!:D
The water was 71 degrees and super low.

-for the River Bassin' report WLB! :)

Just curious as always ;) ... approx how many miles is it from the rt#6 bridge downstream to the bay mouth, by river miles? Also where to do consider the rivers end & the bay start ~ if you have the time could you take a look at this topo map link & slide the target marker down to the rivers end & repost the new link w/target marker??

I don't know how many miles that would be Ray, my guess would be in the 10 - 12 mile range?
I consider the mouth of the river to be at squaw Island.
On some charts it's shown to run through mud creek bay to canvasback point, where it enters the Sandusky bay. There is channel markers from canvasback up to where the river gets some depth. It snakes through some old washed out dikes and several silted in areas out there, averaging 3 ft deep, probably less right now. the mouth changes a little every year, you really have to be careful before they mark the channel in the spring.
There's some nice prop eating material out that way!

Ray
Here's a pic of the Sandusky river mouth.
I was setting in the river looking out at the bay.
It's a real puzzle to get from where I sat to those tree
lines, which is canvasback point, that little island on
the left is squaw is., the channel straightens there and
runs right beside it on it's way to the bay.

-a photo sure beats lookin' at the gps map of the area for sure! :D

This is a 1st for me because I've never seen it before ~ only ever been up the bay a mile or so from the old bridge around whites & a lil' past... and only waded the river in town.

Thanks for a view of NW Ohio that not many have ever seen!!!
