I'm not talking about where you catch the most fish but where do you find to be the most pleasant for a long cold fall walk in waders. I do not want to sound all gushy but the relaxation and a little exercise is getting to be more important to an old fart like me.
If I catch one fish that's plenty and it's always C&R. Those times when you find a spot and catch 10 are great too but I want to see the nicest spots and they are often the hot spots.
I'm a guy that's bent of fishing because I do not like to exercise at home. I need to get out to relax the brain and exercise the body.

Unfortunately, I have yet to fish in the Lake Erie tribs in Ohio. But when I lived in PA (I'm originally from Erie, PA), I loved fishing Walnut and Elk creeks, outside Erie; and Oil Creek around the Canadohta Lake area in Crawford County.

PA definately has some nice rivers but are little far for a day trip.

First Welcome to the site Riverman! :)
If were just talking scenic and angling experience. I think the upper grand and upper Conneaut (sp?) are probably the nicest/scenic stretches to fish of the bigger water. That being said I actually prefer some of the large feeder streams when the waters high enough to keep them decent to where a fish can actually run a little. Kind of keeps a nice trouty feel to it.
As far as success goes though those rivers have not been my best friends. My timing always seems to be off on the grand and I've yet to hit with good conditions and the connie.... it seems like every time I go there it's bitter cold and icing up my guides!
to get into steelies small spots like mill or payne creek are good at given times when the big rivers are muddy, weekdays are best for less crowds. i,ve walked the grand around rt 528 and if the water is good i,ve had good times up or down river.less people and nice scenery, seen three coyotes come down to the water one morning and look around not forty yds away and never knew i was there. even on weekends you,ll only see a few guys compared to the chagrin or the connie.somtimes a few salmon are in there also.i goy a nice one one fall below the road in a gravel run. good fishin.....

I really appreciate all the comments/suggestions. The Cuyahoga is the closest but it seems like its hard to find a place to park near the nice spots. I hear there are some pike, smallies and some times steelies and would love to try it. I LOVE TO CANOE & WADE. I like to canoe against the current until I'm dead tired and then drift back slowly fishing and relaxing.
This is a great site!
