When your shooting a .22 or .17 in the air at a squirrel do you ever wonder where that round will land if you miss?

Usually into a tree or the ground.

I always make sure there is a good back stop behind the squirrel. But most of the places I hunt are pretty far from houses

I always try and wait for a shot that would allow the bullet to hit a branch or the trunk of a tree. But i agree be care and make sure of your back ground no matter what game your pursuing.

My Dad wouldn't let me squirrle hunt using a .22 because of this. At the time I thought he was full of baloney, but now that I'm older I have a different perspective.

Thanks TF I really needed that to worry about. I dunno, I quess I take into consideration the people that may be in the area. As you would with any firearm.
I only shoot when I can see what it will hit after it hits what I am shooting at.
One thing to look at with all the .17 cal craze, the hunting regs say that you can use a .22 cal Rem fire!!!
I just looked for it in this years regs and they took that part out (from last years) and only said that "during the state wide muzzle loading seasone, hunters can not be in the woods with shot shell with a shot size larger then #4's) before they had the part in there about the .22 so, I am still telling anyone to check that the .17's are leagel. I should also so I know.
