Tell me what you guys think of this, Last year I shot a buck during bow season. I got one of my friends to go with me and help me track it. The other day he stops by my house and we get to talking about that property where I shot the deer. He then mentions that he went out there the other day and got permission to bow hunt. It kinda made me mad. I know I dont own the property but I thought he could have atleast asked me what I thought about him hunting out there since I showed him the property. Am I wrong to be mad at this?

I probably wouldnt say anything to him but my first thought would be "whats up with that "friend". I would never do that to a hunting partner, and since your bringing it up, YOU wouldn't either. But, not everyone sees things the same way. Is it 5 or 500 acres? Maybe he was going to get permission first, and then run it by you. He did help you out when you needed it. Sorry, i'm starting to sound like Ann freakin Landers.

If he's a very good friend tell him how you feel. BUT I would not take him to any more hunting spots, let him take you to a few of his if he has any.

NO, your not wrong for being pissed and feeling betrayed. I felt the same way when it happened to me.

You are not wrong at all...this "friend" did the wrong think. I would not mind if he came to you first and asked if you would be o.k. with it, but to go out and do it on his own is pretty low. Like someone else said, I would be careful about showing him any more spots. I would also pressure him to show you a spot or two.

Finally, I would mention it to him...he should know that is wrong.

If he was a good "friend" he would have been hunting out there allready with you!!!

I've found over the years you can tell alot about a friendship when you involve hunting property. I have tested a so called friendship by taking them to one of my so-so hunting spots. when they started hunting there on there own and taking other people there it was over.

I have a large family and kids now that want to hunt. I also have "friends" that I hunt with and i'll put them in my stand to shoot a deer.

I agree with what Don said about if he was a "good friend" then he would have already been out there hunting it with you. I would give anything to get my best friend on some prime hunting property. I want to see him get a big buck more so than myself. I figure one of these days he'll stick a booner and I will be the 1st to congratulate him no matter where he might get it.

I never said he was a "Goog Friend", just a friend. I thought he was a little better friend than what he turned out to be.

Are you still going to hunt this property this year?

You have every right to be mad at this guy.

That guy is a dirtbag. I would never think about doing that to someone. There's a farm down the road I know I could get permission to hunt, but I won't because I know someone that occasionally hunts there.

I think if the woods was big enough, I would find out where his stand was then,#1,#2,#1, #2 ALL over the place, then I would go to the other end of the woods and tell him you haven't seen anything all day either !!!;) :p
