Ok About every night around 9-9:30 i can ride up the road and see about five does a good buck and a small buck, but for about a week i havent been seeing them, we have messing around with planting a new food plot. So do you guys thin the deer are changing there patterns already or have we just scart them off for a while?

hard to say for sure but deer patterns are cyclic to a degree.

They roll with the punches so to speak and alter their habits around man's activities so I wouldn't worry about it.

They'll be around.

NCB is right, the deer are definately still there. They may be showing up a little later than normal. With this heat wave they might even be hitting a water hole before entering the fields to eat.

just a little tidbit about deer and water.

Deer, like rabbits, do not need to drink water. They get much of their moisture requirements from the foods they eat and can go for days without a drink if they have to. They normally do drink however but nearly always it's predawn when they do and after feeding.

Much of the attraction to water holes is the temperature is usually slightly cooler around water holes, creek bottoms, etc. and deer will go to great lengths for comfort.

Not saying deer don't drink from water sources but just offering some info that may increase understanding of the quarry.:)

oh, excuse me. I wasn't meaning to insult your hunting skills at all.

I thought perhaps some younger bowhunters may read thru and find the tidbit helpful.

You're still a youngster btw. :D

I started bowhunting in 1966. :p
