Who's going to do some research on the laws governing them ?
What , if any , are the restrictions on how they procure fish for them ?
I know someone is looking into it already ?

I was looking into it last year. When they started talking about stealing flatheads out of the rivers. I didn't find much on it. Just some stuff about ownership of the lake and running it as a business. Didn't find much on the fish though and how they get them. I went to the library and check some sites on the internet.

I believe that most of the Paylakes buy their big cats from local Fish Hatcheries.............Which, and Im speaking from 1st hand knowledge here, keep big cats in their Holding ponds........Where they get them is anybodys guess :D.............this could be a loophole that is missing from the equation here............I mean , you are not going to flip open the Yellow pages and find a listing for CharliesComercial Catfish service, " we net em you come getem" ...............these lakes are getting their Fish from farms that do grow some fish ..................... Not making accusations but just throwing up a topic for thought here..........The Farms get the big cats from somewhere........Dont think they have spent 10 years in a holding pond...Maybe , but doubtful.......
anyfish farmers on the boards ? maybe get an opinion on this................
wheres the netters retail outlet?

I don't think we could get any information out of them, and I doubt there is info to be found. If it was all legal, then why wouldn't the info be out there?

call and ask them if they have any large Cats available.............they say how large?-- you say 20 pounds plus.....they say sure we got em'--, then you know that chances are, they came from the river.......That makes sense to me.

I copied this little bit from their site................
Channel Catfish
3-5" $59.00/100
6-9" $69.00/100
9-12" $125.00/100
Adult (100 lb. min.) call for price
I believe this particular place gets their Channels from Michigan...........
No mention of Flatties

If this is a fishery pond that sells fish retail then I'm pretty sure anyone can purchase their fish.
