went down to tappan lake tonight around 4:30. the water was beautiful, very light breeze, a awesome evening !!! went down to try for some channel cats , and let my boy josh catch me a few bluegill for cutbait. had 2 poles out on bottom with chicken livers for 3 hours and had 2 very light bites, which never actually ran with the bait. i did see alot of surface activity in the bay i fished. white bass ??? what do you guys think ?? i got bored waiting on the catfish so got out my bass rod with a 4 inch firetiger smithwick rogue , threw 3 casts along the rock and BOOM caught a nice fat 13 inch largemouth. wish i could say i caught more but didnt, i did have one other fish on about the same size. the bass were TIGHT to the riprap. didnt hit real hard but inhaled the bait. do you all think it is too early for channel cats at the lake ?? ran into a guy who was bottom fishing for cat with cutbait, he SAYS he has been catching channels since right after ice out.
