After months and months of trying to catch up with this property owner my hunting partner caught up with her this afternoon and she's going to let us turkey hunt. We all ready hunt the farm across the road and every year we sit in disgust as they gobble day in day out on this one ridge over looking this field. I have heard no less than 4 gobblers on this ridge, one day I heard 7. When I was down scouting a couple days ago and I drove by after listening at another farm and heard 5 gobbling their heads off. It's one of them spots where if they aren't gobbling anywhere else, they will be gobbling there. The owner took my buddy for a "walk" and showed him where she sees them at. Gotta love that. Them birds will have company this year on the opener. And the nice thing about this spot is nobody else hunts it she says. While down scouting this afternoon he said he saw 2 strutters on one property we can hunt and one lone strutter on another farm. Man I can't wait for season now.

Yes last year was very rough for me personally, I hunted my arse off for a little ole jake. My buddy hit it right one day and called in a couple 3 year olds and took one along with the jakes we called in that one rainy day. It was a brusier sporting almost 1.5" spurs. I just never could get the breaks I needed. Bad luck more than anything. Even the bad years keep me coming back. :D

Great news Darron!
I hope you guys have that spot to yourselves on opening day, too!
A friend of mine here in Montgomery County just bought another farm that has almost 80 acres. This will nearly double the area I have been goose & duck hunting on! Added bonus is a couple of super alfalafa fields and a couple of good bucks are residents of the farm as well.
Good Luck in VC, I'm not hearing or seeing much on our lease down there, other than grouse and deer! Mead whacked almost 100 acres of timber the last couple of months and this might have scattered what few turks we had:confused:

10ga,
The lady doesn't let anyone else hunt and the surrounding property I have talked to the owners and they don't let anyone hunt. So maybe we might have one spot to ourselves:p Aaron was there this morning and heard 2 at 930am just gobblin their heads off. He'll be there on the opener for sure. I'm thinking of hunting the cow pasture and dad will be at the farm. I have been seeing ALOT of sign there on the family farm on the one end where the foodplot is at. I am hoping dad can get one. He hasn't got one in 2 years. He's "turkey hunting" this year he said, jake, gobbler, doesn't matter :D
