I just moved to the Athens area and want to start exploring some good fishing spots. I've been to Dow Lake at Strouds run but have not fished it yet. Any tips, and is there any good small creek/rivers around that are good spots? Also, does the Hocking hold fish?

Thanks,

John

Welcome John. Options here are:

Hocking River (more towards Logan I hear, never fished it, 30-40mins away?),

Fox Lake (two ends, dock side and dam side, only have caught few small bass, catfish, but mostly crappie and gills, not much pressure at all, 10-20mins away)

Lake Logan (fished a few times, nothing to write home about, 35-40mins)

Waterloo Wildlife area (about a 2 acre pond, good sized gills this time of year, seen others caught there, 20 mins),

Burr Oak (never been there, 45mins?)

Lake Hope (never been there, 45mins?)

I came to school here 4 years ago, originally from Lake Erie (Sandusky), so the fishing is not the greatest in my eyes, but definitely nice to get away, which is what it's all about anyways. There is also the Ohio River which is only 25mins away, and AEP up towards Columbus. Hopefully others give ya alittle more info!
