Mono to flurocarbon?

This spring i started using a flurocarbon tippet that i tie on to my mono leaded. when i get bad snags, instead of the fly breaking off at the knot, the knot at the mono to flurocarbon breaks. i never had knot in my leader break when using mono to mono. does normally happen?

At this point I've all but given up on the stuff. I've lost soooo many more fish on that stuff! It gets frayed and brittle way to quick for me just to fragile. I keep a spare tapered floro leader in the vest as a "just in case" leader for extra low water but that's about it. When I was still fighting with it my problems were always somewhere between the knot and the fly.
