Believe me I am not bragging, I have had way to many fishless days to do that..Just want to see what everybody has caught.
As you all know my biggest ever came last year with a 50lb Flathead...I have also caught two 40-lb Flats...Several 30lb class Flats...And many Flats from between 15 and 25 lbs....
My Biggest Channel was 14-lbs...Not caught that many big Channels....I consider a big ohio Channel cat as being over 10-lbs

My biggest flathead was about 20 lbs. on a rod and reel with a goldfish at Alum Creek and one that was 47.lbs. on a trotline in Ga. Caught it on a large bream.
My biggest channel cat was about 18 lbs. in the Ohio river when I was a kid fishing with my uncle. Caught it on a burnt hot dog.;)

Never caught any of the BIGUNS but have taken 12-15 lb channels many times over... Huron river fishing years ago was awesome but could never keep any for show and tell cause won't keep anything I can't eat and never eat cats from Erie or tributary:(

The largest flathead I ever caught went about 15#. I was 14 years old, fishing with my grandfather at the Low-Head dam on the Pearl River in Mississippi (I'll be 40 this May). My largest channel went about 22#, and came out of the GMR this past fall.

A 62# bluecat, a 39" flathead (no scale), a 35" bluecat, a 31# 4 oz & a 31# 8 oz flathead. Several 20-25# flatheads also a few +20# blues. Couldn't say how many fish in the teens, but to say a boatload would not be a huge exaggeration. I put most of the better fish up in the catfish pictures thread.
That's all from 2002, before that I had a +30# flathead & a 43# bluecat(1998)
I like these little guys too !

Shouldn't this quote be in the joke section??Believe me I am not bragging,
That's funny !! I might get out on Thursday if I can find a snow/iceless ramp !
Hey, can I list the ones that got away as big fish ? I actually had some terrific fish fights & never saw the fish...my experiance tells me from the battle that 3 or 4 were over 30#. ;)

Believe me I am not bragging,
Jim, I don't think this needs to go to the joke section. And although I know you were just ribbing Jack a little bit, because of all the "fishless" days I know all of us have experienced, anyone who has caught level 4 and level 5 catfish have a right to brag. At least in my book they do. And that includes you. Hopefully I can stumble into the higher "Levels Clubs" this year.

David, just for the record, I don't use the "level" method. I like to give an accurate weight or measurement. Big difference in a 21# fish & a 29# fish, or better yet a 20# vs a 29# 14 oz fish. If someone said they caught three level 2's they might be 22# or 28# I don't catch that many in a day I need to sort them out like that. That's a 62# bluecat (50" long 33-34" girth) and the flathead was 39" long & had a 27" girth (no scale then to weight it). How many "level 4 " fish do most people catch in a year, or in their lifetime for that matter ( or 30# class fish ?) ? Weigh that rascal !

Ok I will Brag!!!! Just kidding...I think anyone here could catch the fish I caught last year, if they located them...To me that is the obvious key, you cant catch them if they aint there, no matter the tackle, no matter the bait....I am really down to just a select few spots I can fish right now, and they are a pain in the rear to get into, nothing easy about it...I know of many good areas for big Flatheads, that I just cant fish, because I dont have a boat, and because I cant get permission to bankfish.....
I personally know of 4 very very good flathead holes, deep water, and brush, bends in the river.....I fished these areas many years ago for Channels, long before I started Flathead Fishing..But now I cant gain access, "My soul for a 14ft jon boat":D
I f you guys who have not caught any big flats can get access to private land that borders, rivers you can catch them also.....
Let me tell you about a hole that I have not been able to fish for years...This hole is on a creek appx 40yds wide...My old fishing buddy and I took his Jon boat on it years ago, and he had an old hummingbird depth finder....He messured a hole at over 40 feet deep!..I consider a good hole on this creek 10ft, but this baby measured 40ft, my the Flatheads have to be stacked up in there!
Three summers ago I tried to gain access to this spot, but was of course turned down...But the landowner was kind enough to inform me:mad: That his Son had trotlined this hole the previous year, and that he caught 4 flatheads over 50-lbs out of it..And that he released them, and that he had been fishing it with a rod and reel, and had several fish break 40-lb test line...Dont know if it's true but I sure would like to find out....
