Oh and for Sycamore HELMETS are required, I don't necessarily like to wear one all the time either but we have to show that we are responsible people if were gonna keep people interested in backing riding areas and events. PLUS it's like the seat belt , they stink but there probably going to help more than hurt. Statistics show that anyhow.

I know helmets are good and I would be stupid for not wearing one, but I just cant find one!! If I where to buy one, I would never wear it and those things are expensive!! The lady I work with said last year there was not anyone running around like a "Helmet Nazi" making sure you had one on. Besides my stupid Polaris dont go fast enough to hurt me even if I would wreck it!! :)
waiting to hear Buckmasters response seeing he works there.

Find a helmet and some googles to protect your melon.

By the way, I won't be there on the 9th. The wife has me scheduled for other events. We are working on cleaning up the trails from the winter debris now in preparation for the ride April 9th.

The ride is scheduled for tomorrow, 4/9/05. Get there around 8 am and you should not have to worry about traffic. Admission is $ 15 per rider. Looks like a great day weather-wise for a spring ride. Have fun and be safe.

Ok here is my report on the famous "Rumble". On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 4.5. Nothing against Short Creek Sportsman Club, I think they got completely overwelmed!!! I have never seen that many quads in my life!!! We waited 3 hours in line and I would bet some people waited longer. They had to turn away people and I am curious to hear Buckmaster's comments on that. I would have hated to be the guy who had to tell hundreds of people who waited in line all morning just to tell them they had to go home!!! But you can only have so many people and I cant blame them for what they had to do. As far as the trails go I give them an 8.5. They where very good with lots of mud in some parts with by-pass if you did'nt want to try it. But there was just too many bikes to really have fun. Some guy who was a member said that the first ride is always the worst (people wise). And dust, dust, dust!!!!! Holy cow man I am gonna sue Short Creek Sportsmans Club for black lung!! (just kidding)!!! Sunday morning I was on the lake and spit up black gunk from my lungs into the water all day long. All and all it was fun and I think I am gonna wait till September to go again.

Sounds like a good turnout from a financial standpoint but a nightmare from a crowd management standpoint. Last spring's first ride I think there was 2850 riders and it sounds like there were more then that this time if they were turning people away. The next ride shouldn't be so bad. Typically SCSC hopes for around 2000 bikes. The rides I worked at last year attendance was around 1600 and 1800. I missed this weekends ride do to other obligations so I can't really comment on the events of this week. Thank you for riding our trails. The profits end up going into the club properties mortage, wildlife management, food plots, cover, pond and wildlife stocking, etc.

What does it cost to be a member buck?? I rode through some good looking hunting land. I bet an arm and a leg.

There is a 250 member club limit and the waiting list to get into the club is about 250 deep. Current cost is $ 200 intiation fee and $ 200 annually. Its a great hunting area. They stock the ponds, and stock rabbits and pheasant. I am fortunate enough to have my hunt camp next door so it allows me 3000 acres of playground.

You are lucky to be a member. I would consider getting on the list even if it took a decade to be acepted!!! I give it to your boys. They did a great job considering all the people they had to deal with. We was in line and asked the owner of the feed mill (Landmark I think) if we could park our trucks and ride to the top of the hill on our quads. He said we could and had to park there. that worked out good cause if we would have waited we might not have gotten to ride. I tell ya I got an education on stupid people Saturday. No patience and no brains is a deadly combination. I seen some adults acting like crying spoiled babies!! I also seen some illegal drug use in the campground!!! (we wont go there) All and all it was a good day.

Different strokes for different folks. You definetly see all kinds from all walks of life there. There is a Sheriff there and some undercover police. If you see suspicious behavior you should discretly report it to the Sheriff or one of the members. They will deal with directly. Those behaviors will not be tolerated on SCSC grounds.

I did alert a Green Vest about the weed. He seemed like he didnt really care, he was too busy shootin the ***** with his buddy. We went back to the truck and he was still talking to his buddy and never moved when we came back past a half hour later. Oh well I wasnt gonna confront the guy, if he didnt care I guess it was cool. I am with you Buckmaster, if I was a member there I would have made sure those tards would have been escorted off the property ASAP!!!

Buckmaster, how many riders do you think will be at the next one? I know you have no way of knowing but what would be your guess??
Buckmaster

It sounds like maybe over 3000 on the first ride, April 9th. When I get the minutes from the next meeting I will know the accurate number in attendence for April 9th. The next ride, I will guess 2000. If you get to the gate around 8 am on ride day you shouldn't be backed up too long. I've checked riders in as early as 6 am on ride day. Its brutal around 10 am.

Guys,
There's another Rumble on the Ridge this Saturday, May 28th. $ 15.00 and you can ride 30 miles of trails all day long. If you're not doing anything get there early and come out for a ride.
I think I'm signed up on the job detail listing to sell T-shirts so look me up if you decide to come out to play. Safe riding!
