Where do you live at? We haven't been on the ice for a week or so. Crappie and perch were hitting at findlay #2. I haven't heard anything recently. I don't think there is any good ice out there.

Wauseon Reservoir has 8-10" of solid ice. Word was that crappie were hitting last weekend. Friend went out yesterday a couple 100 yds. from shore & got 4 nine inch perch. Had to wait 'em out. All came on minnows. With the weather reports, I'd say there's a couple weeks left yet to fish on "solid water" up here in the NW corner if you're interested!

what size gigs r u using

Ken, Have found that the smaller the jig, like an ice dot, is the ticket. Likewise, the smaller the minnows you use the better. My friend caught his on a black ice dot. Early or late in the day I would prefer a "glow in the dark."

I've found that where you fish dictates what to use. What's good in one place won't cut it in another. At Wauseon I've found that minnows are the ticket. Crappie are interested in waxworms, put perch seem to stay their distance (That's ice or open water fishing.) If you could find them, wigglers might be a good option for perch. I say that because at Clear Lake in Indiana the wigglers were outdoing minnows&spikes by a long shot!

LOTS of good ice on both the findlay reservoirs.Just need some guys to help find the fish!Just be careful around the edges (first six feet) because of the drawdown/water use...The rest has about eight inches of great ice.I mean it would be super for hockey! Its that flat and slick this year.Bring your ice spikes!!....
Very spotty fishing reports but not many guys getting out.I did catch a bunch of smaller white bass thurs eve at dusk on res. no 2 straight out from the pump station about eighty yards.Had a ball landing them but not what I was after.
Dont know where the perch are but I aim to find out!!..Lots of good hard water action is yet to come....You guys give up to easy!!..lol.....Len

I don't know where your located, but I know a couple guys that were catching some keeper size gills yesterday at resthaven, that's located near castalia, plenty of ice on all the ponds, they said they were on pond 8 but I think they fished 2 or 3 differnt ponds. Good Luck
